Paris Inspired Bedroom - pretty girl's bedroom!

After finally finishing the duvet cover for this Paris inspired bedroom, I am thrilled to show off the whole room at last!  We started this bedroom makeover a year or so ago and have had most of it done for quite some time.  It's bright and white and is probably my dream bedroom if I was a little girl again with a room all to myself.

The canopy bed is so charming and typically has sheer white curtains for Olivia to create a little cocoon for herself.  We removed the curtains to keep the room open for selling the house.  You can also catch a glimpse of the crown molding and bright white of the bedroom in these pictures.  We painted this room Marshmallow White (Glidden paint) after discovering its perfectness with the other girls' bedroom makeover.  You can see their Vintage Candy Shoppe themed room here.

We put a lot of time into creating two gallery-like walls, full of photographs, baby keepsakes, a mirror, and some photographs and artwork from Paris.

This wall is probably my favorite part of the room.  I love how all the pieces fit together.  I found the little birdcage hook rack at Ross (!!) and spray painted it matte black – it adds some great dimension and texture to the wall.

Here and on the other wall, we hung two fashion sketches that we purchased at the Paris flea markets.  They fit in with Olivia's room so well and since she loves to sketch fashion, we knew they would be the perfect gift to her.Paris Inspired Bedroom - pretty girl's bedroom! In addition, on that side of the room, we hung a whimsical chalkboard that I made from a laser cut frame and piece of MDF.  Also, the girls' little vanity table is residing here.

The large piece of art in the center there is actually a fabric panel that I just fell in love with!  It's a Paris shopping scene and it actually has a little shop sign that says "Frou Frou" on it WHICH is indeed the name of one of the fabric shops that I drooled in while in Paris last fall.  So fun!  The fabric panel itself was purchased locally and my best google search tells me it is "Spectrix Frou Frou French Victorian Panel."  I used Mod Podge to glue, stretch, and glaze the fabric panel onto a canvas from the craft store.  It took several coats and some diligence to make sure there were no bubbles.  I sponged black acrylic paint around the edges to give it a little framing.  The Mod Podge and paint give it enough texture that you can't even tell it's fabric at first glance.

Olivia does a good job keeping her knick knacks tidy.  She really loves her room all put together.  Her bookcase holds a little platter of DIY Macarons, as well as other keepsakes and souvenirs.  The tall canvas on top of her bookcase is the same print that I made for the little girls' room – I'll have to share the file soon so you can make one, too.  All my girls think it's super fun to brainstorm what they will be when they grow up and I love the height of this tall canvas for added impact in the room.

Of course we can't forget the Paris-inspired "wallpaper" that I made using vinyl and my Silhouette machine.  I shared the full tutorial for making your own vinyl wallpaper here.  We are definitely repeating this in the new house!!
